Professional & Amateur Snooker / 2016 PMK Invitational Pro-Am

30th April & 1st May 2016 / Minnesota Fats Snooker Club, Glasgow, Scotland

McGILL DOUBLES UP!

Anthony McGill retained the PMK Invitational Championship this past weekend in Glasgow; one of the most prestigious Pro-Am events in the sport.

Fresh from another impressive run at the Crucible the previous week, the World Number 28 dropped only seven frames during his title defence. He banked a cool £2,000 for winning it, plus an additional bonus of £147 for making the highest break - a 118.

Now into its third year, (2014 was won by John Higgins) the PMK features a selection of invited Scottish professional and amateur players, along with talent from south of the border. There were qualification competitions prior to this in determining which amateurs would play in the main event. Each one of those entries would receive a plus 14 start each frame against their higher profile opponents.

The amateurs actually had a great tournament, with 3 of the 5 of them defeating their higher tier rivals.

Currently the highest ranked player to take part was local Stephen Maguire, who bowed out in the quarters to newly promoted pro (via the EBSA play-offs) Elliot Slessor, 4-2.

Former World Champion Graeme Dott was McGill's victim in the final.

There were 41 breaks of 50 or above.
