AMATEURS HEAD TO BUCHAREST FOR EURO GLORIES

Several European titles are up for grabs in the Romanian capital of Bucharest over the next week and a half.

Starting on Monday, the European Billiards and Snooker Association (EBSA) will host their annual 6 Reds, Ladies, Masters and Team (Men's, Ladies & Masters) Championships at this year's venue of the Mirage Hotel.

This festival of snooker begins with the short format 6 Reds event where players are looking to succeed 2017 champion Kristjan Helgason who will not be present. However, over 60 entries - both male and female, will take part, with representation from 19 different countries. The entry list includes former professionals Michael Judge, Andrew Pagett and Darren Morgan, who in particular has a very impressive record in major amateur tournaments like these.

A Shoot-Out competition takes place on the 22nd that features 16 players from 16 nations and the Teams, Ladies and Masters competitions run between the 23rd to 29th.

Despite not a single entry from the UK, the European Ladies Championship boosts a healthy starting number of 37 players from 15 countries. The hot favourite will again be Belgium's defending champion Wendy Jans who is looking to win this title for an incredible 12th time.

Evidence of Morgan's dominance on this level of the sport is apparent when you learn he has claimed the European Masters Championship for the last three years running. The former World Professional Championship Semi-Finalist is back to retain the title.
