EXPERIENCE COUNTS - THE STREAK CONTINUES!

After Mark King's triumph at the Northern Ireland Open in November, I did a small piece on how players aged Over 40 were constantly featuring in the very latter stage of tournaments. (You can read that article here). Well, the streak has continued since then.

The average age of the Semi-Finalists at the 2017 Masters is 39.75. Both Ronnie O'Sullivan (41) and Joe Perry (42) kept the sequence going, whilst Marco Fu (39) is also nearly in that age bracket.

At least one player aged 40 or over has made the Semi-Finals of every event this season. In fact, if we add John Higgins' Last 4 finish at the China Open and Alan McManus' at the Crucible last season, the run equates to 17 straight competitions.

The last time the final quartet didn't feature a 'FortySomeThing' was the Players Championship Grand Finals in March.

Obviously these stats do include snooker all-time greats in John Higgins and O'Sullivan - I think they will be challenging for a fair few more years to come...
